Simpson College Selects Portfolium To Improve Learning Outcomes Assessment
Portfolium, a leading cloud-based learning success platform that enables students to capture, curate, and convert skills into attractive job offers, has today announced it has partnered with Simpson College to provide ePortfolios and Assessment to students and faculty.
Simpson College is launching Portfolium’s ePortfolio and assessment platform campuswide in an effort to streamline institutional, general education, and program assessment while making the process meaningful for both faculty and students. Portfolium’s learning success network will integrate seamlessly with the institution’s current learning management system (LMS), Moodle, providing an innovative and efficient way to connect learning artifacts with assessment and ePortfolios.
“We are excited to combine our assessment efforts with the high impact practice of an ePortfolio. This will benefit the institution and the students which is a win-win for us,” said Tracy Dinesen, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at Simpson College. “Every department in our institution has learning outcomes for all of their programs, which in turn include custom rubrics for each outcome,” Dinesen explained further. “By allowing us to streamline our assessment process, Portfolium will transform the way our departments measure their learning outcomes.”
Through the integrative features and intuitive user experience that Portfolium offers, along with live-chat support, Simpson College will provide flexible general education assessment management with customizable rubrics, curriculum mapping, and reporting for faculty and administrators, creating a more efficient campus-wide assessment process in an effort to promote faculty development.
“At Portfolium, our goal is to provide a solution that benefits both the institution and students, ultimately helping those students connect what is learned in the class to a career opportunity. We are more than proud to partner with Simpson College on their assessment and ePortfolio initiatives,” said Troy Markowitz, Vice President Academic Partnerships.
Initially, Simpson College will be conducting first-year and senior capstone assessment through Portfolium, utilizing the platform’s reporting and analytics capabilities to measure student progress both through graduation and beyond. Students will benefit from ePortfolios that they can take with them for life, for free, to show off their skills and competencies gained in both curricular and co-curricular programs. They will be able to connect with employers and matched with jobs that align with their skills directly within Portfolium’s learning success network.
