We will be featuring a new blog series dedicated to getting to know the people at Portfolium (or Planet Portfolium). Our first interview will be with our Senior UI Engineer, Peter D’Orsi. His two-year P-Versary was this past week, and we couldn’t be more proud to have him on our team.
Tell us a little bit about what you do at Portfolium.
What’s your favorite thing about Portfolium as a company?
Great people trying to help more great people reach their full potential. Everyone is super smart here and they are all people I hang out with in real life. I also think that working in educational technology is rewarding.
Tell us your favorite part about working on the dev team.
Similar to what I said above, but on the dev team, we get to always push the boundaries of what it means to use an educational and professional product. We also have a lot of freedom of using new and upcoming technologies to build these products.
What do you think it takes to be a great UI Engineer?
Using your product and constantly thinking about how you can make it even better for your users is probably the biggest thing you can do. Evaluating and testing new technologies is helpful to keep on top of emerging trends. And finally always try to keep your products accessible to all of our users.
What’s the best piece of advice you have received?
Keep it simple.
What do you do when you’re not crushing it at Portfolium?
I hang with my daughter, wife and two old pugs, cook as often as possible and then fill any remaining hours of my day playing video games.
Show us your best entry in your Portfolium! Why is it your best?
It’s not often you get to stand next to Santa on live TV holding a pug.
